Pizza is so good – no matter how you slice it. It’s a family favourite around here and we’ve got a sweet way to eat it, that will help spice up your pizza making skills.
With five of us in our family (The Rowaan’s), everyone has a different favourite way to eat it. We’ve got a couple of foodies in the family that like to load it up, and someone else who highly prefers an olive oil base to tomato sauce. But, no matter what the topping preference, we’ve all decided that honey on pizza is something that’s too good to pass up. Sometimes we just drizzle our pizza with honey, straight from the jar. But, if you like adding a little bit of heat, hot honey is the way to go. Our recipe is just the perfect balance of sweet and spicy!
Here is some pizza inspiration and some tried and true topping ideas that are the perfect combination with honey.
Simple Pepperoni – Top with tomato sauce, mozzarella and your favourite pepperoni or salami. Drizzle with honey straight from the jar or with hot honey to add a little bit of heat. You could also top this pizza with a handful of arugula for the sweet, salty, spicy and bitter balance that will make your mouth water.
White Pizza – Use an olive oil base instead of tomato sauce. Top with fresh mozzarella, pear slices and proscuitto. Finish it off with the honey drizzle of your choice.
Beekeepers Stinger – This pizza is inspired by Brian, our head beekeeper. Olives are a must on his pizza, and he loves spice! Top this pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, hot peppers, salami, olives and feta. Add some hot honey to finish it off.
